"Along the Great Divide"

    Along the Great Divide is a magnificent platform for Kirk Douglas in his first Western role that would catapult him into mega-stardom.  The story opens with an old man (Walter Brennan) seeing the slipknot tied tightly around his wrinkled, frail throat, his body readying to be swaying lifeless in the wind's whispers.  Out of a crack in the mountains comes a savior in the form of State Marshal Len Merrick (Kirk Douglas) who halts the lynching and transports Brennan to town for trial.  Along the trail, the film takes an unexpected spin and introduces..............................
