Alan Ladd

Alan Ladd was a huge film star during Hollywood's Golden Age,
and ranked alongside Humphrey Bogart, Gary Cooper, James
Cagney, and Clark Gable. In fact, Modern Screen, in twelve months'
time, ran 16 feature articles on the Paramount star--something that
was never done, even for Frank Sinatra, Elizabeth Taylor, or
Elvis Presley.

Ladd, with his all-American looks and manner, and resonant speaking
voice, was a powerful and magnetic presence on the screen, and could
compete with the best.

While at Paramount, Ladd was paired with the intriguing Veronica Lake
in four features including his first major breakthrough film.....................
