TOMBSTONE TRIBUTES

Candy Candido
by: Joe Wallison

Candy Candido entertained audiences for 66 years and is best remembered as a talented musician, comedian and "Walt Disney" voice-over artist.
He briefly teamed with Bud Abbott for a personal appearance tour in the early 1960s after Lou Costello died. Candy even managed to appear in a couple of Western films during his long and varied career. Such are 1938's Cowboy from Brooklyn starring Dick Powell and Ronald Reagan and the 1959 Republic gem, The Plunderers of Painted Flats, with John Carroll, Grorge Macready and Joe Besser, and filmed in wide screen Naturama.
Candy passed away in his sleep at age 85.
