This stunningly photographed,
well researched and highly entertaining chronicle of the history and
legend of the great American (and Canadian) Cowgirl sparkles at every
level. Divided into three sections, "Real Cowboy Girls",
"Living Legends" and Rhinestone Cowgirls", this is a
fascinating, well-written, beautifully packaged book that will compliment
any Western collection and add immeasurably to the reader's knowledge of
Western lore.
Extensively footnoted,
flawlessly referenced, with rare ranch, rodeo and silver screen
photographs, this is a first class production from cover to cover.
Author Candace Savage writes in a a scholarly and highly entertaining
manner, highlighting the women of the true Old West, rodeo riders, trick
shot champions, as well as stars of the stage, screen and
television. Ms. Savage has set the standard for this portion of
Western literature. Probably no other volume may equal this fine
effort.
Highly recommended as great
reading, with crystal clear, rare photographs and remarkable graphics,
this book is a keeper. |
