EVEN A HERO NEEDS HEROES
Dave Snowden with Roy Rogers

by: Ed G. Lousararian

From maintaining law and order to preventing and investigating crimes, Chief of Police Dave Snowden is an exemplary community leader. Living by the "Protect and Serve" motto, The Golden Rule, and the Cowboy Code gives this local hero that edge.
Snowden, presiding in Costa Mesa, California, is also a member of the Golden Boot Awards Committee. In addition to owning one of the largest libraries of authentic Western history in the state, Snowden is considered a quasi-expert on the American West  and the Western genre. His extensive knowledge and outstanding people skills help explain the commercial success of the annual Golden Boot Awards (GBA).
Indeed, the classic principles of law enforcement translate well into Snowden's world of the wild West. While Snowden enjoys Westerns that are strictly historical in nature, he relishes the shoot-em-ups because of the message imparted. "In Westerns, from the genre's inception through the 1950s," comments Snowden, "there's a clear distinction between good and bad. No grey areas. It was clear for kids in those days to say, 'Hey, I want to be a good guy,' or God forbid, 'I want to be a bad guy.' "
Snowden was born in 1943 to parents working in the motion picture.................
