Ellen Corby

Born Ellen Hansen in 1913, her fans came to know and love her simply as “Grandma” from the long running CBS series, The Waltons. A veteran character actress for over fifty years, she appeared in just about every movie genre. Westernwise, Corby played roles as diverse as a church follower in the Kirk Douglas feature, The Big Trees, in 1952, to a rich spinster in the”Rat Pack” Western, Four for Texas, in 1964. The double Emmy award winner always portrayed her characters with style. More of Corby’s memorable roles include I Remember Mama, Macabre, It’s a Wonderful Life, The Ghost and Mr. Chicken, Shane, and Support Your Local Gunfighter.
