Joanne Dru started her career
as a John Robert Powers model who made her debut in Abie's Irish Rose at the age
of 23. Joanne Dru worked with the famous directors, John Ford and Howard Hawks, starring
in She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949) and Red River (1948), respectively.
She was able to carry her own working with John Wayne, Montgomery Clift, John Agar, and
Ben Johnson. Her other Western films worth mentioning are Vengeance Valley
(1951), Return of the Texan (1952), Southwest Passage (1954), Wagonmaster
(1950), and The Wild and the Innocent (1959) with Audie Murphy and Peter Breck.
Joanne was sister to game show host Peter Marshall; her son, Pete LaCock, played
professional baseball for the Kansas City Royals. |
