Andrew V. McLaglen:

Director

Exclusive Interview by: C. Courtney Joyner

Andrew V. McLaglen

WW:  You were born in London, were you not?
AM:   Born in London, where my father had been in movies for four years.  He got called over to Hollywood, and a year and a half later my mother brought my sister and me to this country.  I was about five and a half years old.

WW:  At this point, your father (Victor McLaglen) was already established as a huge star from silent films.
AM:   Not really [a star], he was well thought of.  His big breakthrough was in What Price Glory?, which was directed by Raoul Walsh.

WW:  Were you on a lot of your father's sets?
AM:   As a kid, I went as much as I could, and started reading his scripts, and chipping in my comments.

WW:  What is your first memory of John Ford?
AM:   Let me just tell you about John Ford!.........................
