John Wayne: A Giant Shadow
by: Carolyn McGivern

"John Wayne: A Giant Shadow"

Reviewed by: Crystal Samuelian

For all you John Wayne fans out there, Carolyn McGivern  has put together an outstanding biography of the Duke. Her book, "John Wayne:  A Giant Shadow", is an in-depth look at this legend of the silver screen.
The text is well-written and riddled with a score of never-before-published anecdotes and quotes from the Duke and the people who knew him best. McGivern covers his early life, his declining years and everything in between with detail and sensitivity.
With a foreword by Steven Spielberg, this book is a great read whether you are an avid John Wayne fan or not.
