TOMBSTONE TRIBUTES

Michael Wayne
by: Crystal Samuelian

Michael Wayne

Michael Wayne, the eldest son of the Duke and associate producer for John Wayne's masterpiece The Alamo, was born in 1934 and produced a number of great films including The Green Berets and Big Jake. As a youngster, he made minor appearances in his father's movies, namely The Quiet Man and The Conqueror.
A shrewd businessman with a heart of gold, Wayne was an impressive force as the guardian to his father's image and memory, and as the John Wayne Foundation's president.
His energy, humor, charm and character were a credit to him. Wayne is survived by his wife Gretchen and five children.
