TOMBSTONE TRIBUTES

Chris Alcaide
by: Crystal Samuelian

Chris Alcaide

Chris Alcaide is known for a number of films and appearances in just about every Western show on TV during the mid fifties to late sixties. Born in 1923, the Ohioan actor had roles in episodes of Rawhide, Bonanza, The Big Valley, Have Gun, Will Travel, The Annie Oakley Show and The Rifleman. With piercing eyes, a cold stare and an earth-shattering deep voice, Alcaide’s specialty was menacing such heroes as Lorne Greene, Richard Boone, Clint Walker, and even Gail Davis! One of Alcaide’s favorite roles was the lead henchman who had Gig Young, Elvis Presley, and yes, Charles Bronson, shaking in their boots in Kid Galahad. The kind and fun-to-watch actor passed away in Palm Springs, California of lung cancer.
