TOMBSTONE TRIBUTES

Ray Walston
by: Adriana Baeza

New Orleans born Ray Walston, best remembered for his role as "Uncle Martin" in TV's My Favorite Martian, was also a Tony Award Winner for his devilish turn in Damn Yankees.  His distinctive characterizations include such fan favorites as The Sting and South Pacific.  Younger generations might remember his for his role as "Mr. Hand" in Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Mr. Walston appeared in the Western Musical Paint Your Wagon (he actually sang with Clint Eastwood and Lee Marvin) and made frequent guest appearances on TV Westerns such as Little House on the Prairie, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, The Outlaws, The Wild, Wild West, and The Wide Country.  In the mid-'90s, he made double Emmy® Award winning appearances on Picket Fences.
