    Without debate, portraying the faint-hearted Lee in the 1960 classic Western, The Magnificent Seven is a landmark performance by Shakespearean actor Robert Vaughn, whose industrious career includes an Academy Award® nomination for The Young Philadelphians (1959) and an Emmy Award® for Best Supporting Actor in Washington: Behind Closed Doors (1978).

    Vaughn was born in November 1932, in New York City.  Though originally interested in journalism, the young intellectual followed in his parents' footsteps and became an actor.  With his heart set on higher learning, Vaughn's flourishing career allowed him to pay his way through graduate school.  So while working on his Ph.D. in Philosophy of Mass Communication in the 1960s, Vaughn immortalized the "Napoleon Solo" hero on the popular television espionage series, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and performed in such notable films as Bullitt, The Bridge at Remagen, and of course, The Magnificent Seven.

    Vaughn became a political activist in the liberal arena in the 1970s; his doctoral dissertation about the Hollywood blacklisters of the McCarthy Era was eventually published as a book.

    Still, Vaughn continued to work steadily as an actor, especially in dynamic action films like...................................
