Howdy Folks!
I sure hope you enjoyed reading our first issue, because it sure was a barrel
of fun writing it. As I promised in my last column, I will be talking about the making of
"Scourge of the West." This show was the pilot for F Troop, the first
show Warner Bros. made to sell to the networks. As you know, we were on ABC, and we were
what is called in the industry, a sleeper. ABC bought this show, but I don't think they
had any idea what they had bought, or how funny it really was. The "Scourge of the
West" was written on October 1, 1964. It was written by the show's creators, Ed James
and Seaman Jacobs. I recently had the pleasure of watching this show again which triggered
some very funny memories of making the pilot.
Before I jump right in like a bucket of buzzards, I wanted to share
with you a marvelous experience I just had. I got the chance to meet up with all my old
buddies from F Troop. This was the first time that we have ever been able to get
all of the members of F Troop together in one place at the the same time since
the show's end. Of course, we all missed Forrest Tucker, but it was one of those wonderful
times that just happens when you least expect it. It took place..............
